September 11th and the Terrorists
September 11th and the Terrorists is cerebral, tower-smashing, time- signature reaping, fret-board raping, math/metal/prog/fusion/experimental instrumental awesomeness. Influences include: Psyopus, Dillinger Escape Plan, Isis, Daughters, Meshuggah, Coprofago, Don Caballero, Zorn, Patton, Gambale, Corea, Holdsworth. I've written a handful of songs. The first was Blender Bender, a song written entirely on impulse, a constant rising action depriving the listener of climax, which also quotes American History X face-stomping. Then came Cubes and Chemical Abortion, which were more thought out and went to a variety of places. UFO was written at Isaac's house at 4 am while messing around on his guitar, when it dawned on me how ingenious it was to repeat a poopy sounding chord over and over. Drudget -- I'm not sure what it is, just some sort of experiment with noise. Could be a metaphor for the dullness of working life. BLC is a imogen's puzzle/primus inspired two-handed one-guitared solo polyrhythmic piece (with drums). The intro song False Vacuum Collapse (named after the doomsday scenario where the laws of the universe break down, essentially destroying everything) is what I used to open my show at Lian's party, and I just stuck it in. I sing on Existential Ecstasy, it's my awesome epic masterpiece, about-- well read the lyrics. Primordial Moon is just awesome. Imagine a giant moon in the sky passing by during the night into dawn. I have a bunch more songs in the bag, but they need to be perfected. It's just me for now (and I'm considering playing some shows solo), but I've been looking for other musicians. Email me if you like what you hear and you're interested in playing. Sept11th has a MySpace too. And yes those are gingerbread twin towers. |
