PARKOUR
Parkour is the art of moving through obstacles efficiently and with as much flow as possible. This is done by jumping, climbing, vaulting, leaping, and rolling. And it's awesome. It's kind of like urban gymnastics. It started in France, and is quickly gaining popularity in the states. Search on YouTube and you'll find a bunch of ridiculously impressive Parkour videos. Even though it might look impossible, almost anyone can do Parkour. I've been doing PK for over two years. It's great, because you can do it whenever you want, whereever there are railings or stairs or walls or anything. All you need is shoes (but not necessarily). It's a great mental discipline too -- overcoming yourself, your fears, pushing your limits. It also looks wicked cool on camera. I'm part of a group called New England Parkour, which jams every Sunday. I've been in the paper for PK too. There was a giant ridiculous picture of me vaulting that took up the whole page. Isaac Alex Shawn and I made a video Summer 2006 with my brother. Technically there's no flips or tricks or breakdance moves or martial arts or walking over highways in Parkour, but they're still awesome, so I include it all here. Some people bag all of it together under freerunning or freestyle walking.
Yeah, I really just made this page to show off cool looking pictures. Look at these. I'm the man. |
